Events

Weekly Sports Camps
To be held this Fall Sep. thru Nov. 4-6 PM outside in Durham communities where CEF club ministry already exists. Multiple coaching and ministry opportunities are available. Contact CEF at 919.399.1979 if interested in serving with these events.


Duke 2010  Reconciler's Weekend Conference
Sep. 24-25 at Duke Divinity School 

Reconcilers Weekend is an annual event hosted by the Duke Center for Reconciliation, which brings a leading practitioner and a leading theologian, each dedicated to a life of Christian reconciliation, to share their stories and wisdom at Duke Divinity School. The program is designed to provide theological and ministry formation to students, pastors, lay Christians, and other ministry practitioners. Online registration is available to the public.

Mission to Malawi
The CEF Durham chapter and CEF of Malawi continued a partnership in 2010 through prayer, training, ministry resources, and supplies. Joseph Khondowe and his staff (above) have reported over 9,500 children receiving Christ in school-based clubs.

 6,ooo city kids/youth can be reached and hear the Gospel during 2010

 Discipleship programs and enrichment activities will grow by 20%

 Hundreds of kids involved this summer will regularly attend Good News Clubs in their own community for discipleship and growth

 Decision-making and  planning as CEF networks and collaborates with local communities and ministries through the Durham Urban Missions Network

 For expansion of the More Than Gold sports outreach into communities and city parks via basketball, soccer, football, and skateboarding

 Volunteers, meeting space, and a big commitment to reach kids at Carriage House, McDougald Terrace, and Hoover Rd Apts. in Durham

 100% funding and staffing to enable effective ministry to city kids in under resourced communities in Durham - 10 Challenge

 Breakout! 2010 urban missions boot camp was a huge success and hosted by First Baptist Church Durham. Twenty campers and staff ministered in six Durham communities, four hours daily for five days each week, with great results: salvation, discipleship, team building, and community development

 10 Challenge capacity "building campaign" has received over $17,000

 Recovering staff and board members of CEF Durham with medical/health concerns: John Blake, Dr. David Johnson's father, Wendy Clark, Diana Lisle, and Ruth Shepard Poole

Prayer is offered on-site (as above) at outreach events, prayer walking and visitation in communities, for specific causes, as well as conventionally by churches and individuals praying privately and corporately for the needs of CEF and the children it reaches.
