More Than Gold Sportsreach is hosting a fund raising competition to sponsor 1,000 Durham city kids to go to camp this summer. Various sports and overnight camping will be offered kids who would not typically get to go to camp. $100/kid sponsorships will be received during individual and team contests held during "March Madness" the first weekend of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

This fund raising event will honor the coaching legacy of Coach Larry Parrish. All former players, coaches, and campers of Coach Parrish are invited to attend and sponsor a city kid for camp.

Why give to CEF Durham?

Here are a few reasons, including the what you see in the collage of city kids above. The thousands of city kids and families, which we work with each year cannot support the mission that serves them. Most of these families do not contribute anything towards the weekly outreach and programs provided for their communities. Thus, CEF relies on God through Christians and local congregations for its financial well-being. If you believe that unchurched children and families need the Lord, then get involved. If you believe after 20 years of serving in Durham, reaching over 100,00 kids, and counseling over 8,000 individuals who made decisions to follow Christ, that CEF is worthy of your support, then give financially

How will your gift be used?

Your financial gifts to CEF Durham will be used year-round towards reaching and teaching city kids with Gospel-centered activities through wholistic outreach in under resourced communities of Durham. Bible club ministry is held in schools of Orange and Alamance Counties and discipleship of students through biblical training and practical service is conducted weekly in urban communities throughout the Durham area. Sports camps, clinics, academies, and tournament are held seasonally to enrich city kids' bodies, minds, and spirits. Evangelism, discipleship, and church involvement for unchurched city kids is our mission.

After school programs request
help with supplies and other needs to touch young lives
Butterflz is the most recent after school program started in one of the neighborhoods (Carver Pond Apts) associated with an under resourced community. Lou Brogden, one leader, expresses their challenges and needs: "We are currently working on getting a larger room so that we can accommodate a larger amount of kids. We also have needs for art supplies and snacks for the kids for each meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:30. During each meeting, we tutor or have an activity, plus a kid's Bible study..." These comments are duplicated in all communities where CEF holds Good News Clubs and after school programs. Snacks, drinks, art supplies, academic resources, and funds for field trips and service projects are a few of their expressed needs. These city kids have raised some money themselves, but limited resources to supply their programs as well as help others.  Thanks for considering their request.

Contributions of supplies can be dropped off at the CEF office in the John O'Daniel Exchange building 801 Gilbert St. Durham. Financial contributions for these programs can be handled online or by mail to CEF Durham. READ MORE and see all itemized needs.
