City Kids - World Changers
Values-centered character education
Currently being conducted at local public and private schools, communities, and summer camps for kids 11-14 yrs.old.


Basketball Camps and Clinics
for boys and girls 7-14 yrs of age with an emphasis on skills and team play will be scheduled during 2015 at clubs, sports/rec centers, and city courts in Durham.  
$100 will sponsor a city kid in honor of Coach Larry Parrish and his son Andy.
Sponsoring city kids for sports camps

Tennis Academy for city kids

Held Tu & Th on select city courts in partnership with Durham Parks & Recreation and the USTA. Tennis academies are held every season throughout 2015.

Platinum Medallion Award 
was received at the 2010 CEF National Conference. The award recognizes USA chapters with a balance in overall ministry and a 10% increase in Good News Clubs over the past three years. The award was received on behalf of CEF Durham.

Dr. William Allard is a Mathematics researcher at Duke University and attends Blacknall Presbyterian Church in Durham

Patrick Bria is a founding partner at Tucker-Bria Wealth Management in Durham and attends Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham

Lou Brogden, Secretary, is a retired public school teacher, ministers to children in after school and Bible club settings across Durham and Orange Counties, and attends the Summit Church - Brier Creek campus

Paula Droege, Treasurer,  Droege Computing Services and attends the Summit Church in Durham

Michael Harley is the COO of Second Chance Outreach and Equipping Center and attends Alston Memorial Holy Church in Cedar Grove

Larry Parrish, advisor to director, is a coach, teacher, and founder of Junior Prep Stars basketball school and camps, he attends First Baptist Church Durham

Jan Perry, Chairperson, is a piano teacher and attends Grey Stone Baptist Church in Durham

History and Ministry Milestone

1937 - Child Evangelism Fellowship®, Inc. is established in Chicago

1990 - John & Carolyn Blake serve on CEF® Board of Directors for NC

1993 - Child Evangelism Fellowship of North Carolina secures a charter for a
           
Durham Area Chapter

1995 - John Blake becomes a full-time Director of the CEF Durham chapter

1996 - More Than Gold sports outreach is founded by John Blake

1997 - Chapter’s ministry area grows to 8 counties north and west of Durham

1999 - Extra Good News kid’s worship begins weekly in the northeast central
            section
of Durham enrolling over 6,000 city kids thru 2005

2000 - Received the Gold Medallion Chapter award by CEF annually
            through 2004

2005 - 11% of all children reached annually receive Christ as Savior,
            counseled
by trained volunteers, and involved in weekly discipleship

2007 - Cassie’s Garden to enrich city kids founded by John Blake

2008 - Urban Missions Boot Camp training developed to fulfill the purposes
            of
CEF in urban communities across America

         - Durham Urban Missions Network formed for collaborative outreach 
            to 10 under-resourced communities in Durham

2009 - Over 850 unchurched kids started attending church (2002-2009)

2010 - Received the Platinum Medallion Chapter award: the highest
            CEF recognition
for excellence, innovation, and ministry balance

2011 - Urban boot camps, summer outreach, and ministry in 100 locations
            thru Good News Clubs enrolled 6,000+ city kids in communities via
            Gospel-centered, weekly discipleship programs

2012 - Over 8,000 city kids reached via CEF ministries and 350+ kids
            attended sports and CEF camps

2014 - Values education incorporated into the outreach of CEF Durham into target communities, public and provate schools using the Light Up Your World and Born to Shine curriculum.
